JOB SUMMARY:

The Grant Coordinator initiates, facilitates, and manages the development of applications for funding through highly competitive federal, state, and other grant opportunities, as well as providing post-award support to departments to help ensure timely and appropriate use of grant funds and successful grant implementation.

The Grant Coordinator works in collaboration with district departments and external stakeholders to develop a comprehensive portfolio of grants which furthers and advances the district's strategic goals. The Grant Coordinator will also support program evaluation responsibilities associated with grant funded programs and other programs as relevant to district goals and strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
  • Regularly check expenditure reports, grant applications, periodic reports on IWAS.
  • Monitors grant budgets that are approved on IWAS.
  • Checks grant disbursement on FRIS.
  • Researches various types of grants available and the criteria to qualify for each.
  • Discusses available sources of funding with District Administrators and Superintendent.
  • Compiles necessary information for the application process through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings.
  • Drafts and completes grant applications according to application requirements.
  • Ensures grant is submitted on time and within application parameters.
  • Completes all documents, forms, or reports required by the grant.
  • Coordinates the monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects that are funded by grants.
  • Develops and maintains master files on grants and paperwork connected to programs funded by grants.
  • Complete lunch grant application and process claims.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:
Occasionally lifting, pulling or pushing during the normal performance of tasks and responsibilities is required. The work requires frequent walking and standing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise and hazards are relatively nonexistent.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • At least three years of experience in grant writing highly preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal funding sources and the ability to locate potential sources for funding.
  • Thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of effective grant writing techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Extremely organized and meticulous with details.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and prepare budgets and financial grant reports.
  • Ability to be discreet with personal information that may be needed for some grants such as employee salaries or upcoming projects.
LICENSES/CREDENTIAL: N/A
Terms of Employment: Salary is based on market comparisons as determined by the Superintendent. Twelve month work year.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support staff.
